Hello friends, I’m back after an abrupt hiatus. I have to confess that I had simply become too busy to blog… or so I thought.
My kids had gotten sick several times, which included a five-day hospital stay for my 7-month-old son. Every mom knows what a monkey wrench family sickness can throw in your plans! Also, just life in general… It hasn’t slowed down, nor will it ever. I have three kids, ages 3, almost 2, and 7 months… I work full time as a teacher… I help my husband with his business… I am taking graduate classes… You get the picture.
I am a writer. It is something I love passionately. I’ve always been a writer, ever since I was a child. So, when I first heard of blogging, it sounded like something that I would greatly enjoy. When I first started planning my blog, I started thinking, “What could I possibly write about, that I would not get tired of writing about day in and day out, that other people would like to read?” After considering many possibilities, I landed on the idea of blogging about homemaking. Not just homemaking for stay-at-home-moms, but homemaking for anyone. After all, I myself am a working mom.
So, why home making? It is NOT because I am an expert on the topic, if that is what you are thinking…
I am not a superb chef.
I am, by far, not a supermom.
I aspire to be crafty, but it doesn’t come naturally. Very little that is Pinterest-worthy!
I am still trying to get the hang of budgeting and saving money.
So, what in the world WAS I thinking, starting this blog? You see, even though I am not the homemaker I aspire to be, I am a work in progress, and I hope to get better and better at homemaking every day. Homemaking is not easy. It is a multifaceted skill, that you have to practice and hone, just like anything else.
I started this blog because I have a vision for my own home. I want it to be an oasis from the outside world. I want it to be a place of beauty, of peace, of freedom, of love, and a place where my family and friends can gather to fellowship and make memories. This is not something that can happen overnight! It takes time and effort. It means continuing to try, even when you have failed. I started this blog, first and foremost, to share my JOURNEY, not my expertise, and to encourage my readers who may also have goals in their homemaking that they would like to accomplish.
Like I want my home to be an oasis, I want this blog to be an oasis. I hope that no one who reads my blog feels judged or discouraged, but instead they feel empowered on their own unique journey. I love all of my readers dearly, and I want to hear from you!!! Would you comment and tell me what are YOUR reasons for homemaking? What are YOUR homemaking goals? What would YOU like to see me post about?
