Isn’t cleaning fun?!? Said no woman ever. And yet, it is a daily task that consumes so much of our lives. I’ll be honest, there have been times when it feels like all that I do is clean. But suffering through the necessary evil of cleaning is much better than NOT cleaning, for sure! No one wants to live in filth and disorganization.
When I was much younger, I will admit, I was unashamedly a slob. Over the last few years, however, I have put those ways behind me, simply because I got to the point that I couldn’t stand it anymore. I just thought that keeping my house and my car was hard back then—now that I have kids, it is much more difficult, albeit impossible on some days. Nonetheless, in my quest to become a better homemaker, I would like to share what I am learning right now that has helped me to keep my house tidy. (Note: I still fail at consistently doing these things, as I am a work in progress like all of us. But when I do them, they always work! J)
1)     Throughout the day, do 5 minute pickups in one particular room.

2)     Make sure all dishes are washed or loaded in the dishwasher before you go to bed at night.

3)     Fold and put away a load of laundry before you start washing the next one. (This will seem more time consuming, but it prevents that habit of leaving clothes unfolded for days after they come out of the dryer, and then having to fold a whole mountain of laundry at once.)

4)     Keep a zone cleaning schedule, which helps you clean a certain room/area of your home every day. Also, keep a checklist of tasks involved in cleaning that area.

5)     Use a timer when doing a pickup before bed (e.g., 15 or 30 minutes)

All of these are suggestions that other people have given me that have really helped me. What are some cleaning tips that have helped you? Leave your tips in the comments!
